Explain the assignment requirements…iOS - Your project idea, and why you found it interesting
I wanted to focus on something that would be informative but also be light hearted and helpful. So I decided to focus on the topic, Promoting economic justice through tax benefits. I thought that it would be interesting to do a mix of a social media app and wiki or google. The purpose of my app is to allow businesses or people to post about different tax benefits, tax deductions as well as make it an open forum for people to share if it worked for them and other solutions. I know that this can be accomplished by just about any social media platform. But I want to make something that is less of the toxicity of social media and less fabrication and simply more about helping people understand all the confusion of taxes and the government. My app will also allow people to be able to give feedback and ask questions. Tons of people don’t know what tax benefits they might have because its not openly talked about. I also want to be able to allow people to calculate their income and what taxes might be taken out or given back. Allowing the person to plan savings accordingly and help provide suggestions and ideas on what might help someone become the most financially stable. I plan on using the sources I have provided to help me better understand what tax benefits there are and also to be able to add initial information to go towards my app. I think it is important for everyone to have access to the same information and with there being so many different sites that all look the same, hard to read and understand someone who is struggling might have a tough time trying to navigate it alone. My goal is to create a easy to read and get information app that allows people to easily navigate and provides solutions not just vague paragraphs. - A written description of the work you completed.
I used Adobe XD to make my app. I made and completed the home, login, home feed, explore feed and the search bar. - Design research
Navigating taxes is difficult, and requires a lot of time. Because of this many people don’t know the different tax benefits or deductions they may be eligible for. Our app is going to help make becoming financially stable more accessible by creating a welcoming, easy to read and informational environment. The app will allow users to put in their tax information, put in income and profession to calculate taxes and create a list of potential tax deductions or benefits the user is eligible for. Once you find a tax deduction/ benefit that you are eligible for. Then give you information, sites and other people’s feedback on the tax deduction/ benefit. - Individual screen designs
- Usability research findings
Most of my usability came from my friends and family because I was behind and struggling on this project. I got some decent feed back on it. One of the things that was said was that it looked unfinished witch I already knew about. The other feed back was that it was easy to navigate and that it was a good idea the execution just wasn’t there. - Prototype video walkthrough
